Class 1 driver

Class 1 Driver Job Description:

As a class 1 Driver,

  • Operate company’s new fully refrigerated trucks to transport materials from one site to another.
  • Perform pre/post trip daily inspections.
  • Verifying material loading and ensuring that they do not exceed weight restrictions.
  • Plan a trip and obtain required documentation to transport goods
  • Follow all procedures to ensure a safe work environment
  • Promptly report any accidents, injuries, or mechanical faults to management.
  • Perform basic emergency roadside repairs, if required
  • Communicate with dispatcher to organize routing and delivery schedules.
  • Accurately record truck information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption.
  • Follow organizational standards – ensure your environment is safe for you and others.
  • Comply with regulations and procedures to align with quality service standards.
  • Communicate clearly and efficiently with your supervisors and teammates.
  • Properly use and maintain warehouse equipment and vehicles.

Class 1 Driver Requirements and Qualifications 

  • 19 years of age or older 
  • High school diploma or equivalent – preferred 
  • English speaking
  • Valid driver’s license – required 
  • Previous experience is a must. (2-3 years preferred) 
  • Capable of lifting to 50 pounds 
  • Ability to push, pull, twist, and reach for day-to-day activities 
  • Dependable and reliable, easy to communicate with 
  • Available to work overtime when needed may be asked to work holidays as well
  • Comfortable working in adverse climate conditions.

Hours of work

We aim to provide our drivers with consistent scheduling and some shift work will be required.

Compensation

The successful applicant will be offered a competitive hourly wage based on their experience.

Pay based on mileage upon completion of a 3-months probationary period.

Base mileage rate:

  • 54 cents/mile

Incentive mileage rate:

  • 3 cents/mile
  • If all targets are met – all miles for a period will be paid at our incentive rate.
  • Based on holistic attributes of our drivers which include safety, customer service, and behavior.
  • All targets are clearly communicated to our team members.

Overtime miles

  • If overtime is required, mileage will be paid at 1.5 times or 2 times depending on the statutory requirements.
  • Our philosophy is to ensure that our team members are meeting customer needs, without the need to overwork.

Class 1 WORKLOAD driver

Class 1 Workload Driver Job Description:

As a class 1 Driver,

  • Loads required product into the truck.
  • Deliver Multiple loads daily.
